Bagpipe; zukra
Zukra, bag-hornpipe. The twin parallel chanters are tubes of brass with single reeds. Each tube is pierced with five fingerholes and terminates in cow-horn bells joined by a cord with tassels strung with sequins. The blowpipe is formed from a bird bone, probably a crane femur, marked with geometrical scoring, possibly a script (Tifinagh?). The bag is formed from the forequarters of a kid, the white hair on the outside. The chanter stock is of disk form with an annular groove to facilitate tying in to the bag. The forelegs have turned wooden plugs.
