Rebana; kettledrum

Description Rabana mangkuk, kettledrum (with beater M10a-1980). The shell is in the form of an earthenware bowl. The membranes are possibly of cowskin. The main membrane is framed by an upper membrane, which has been cut away to form a rim. The membranes are held by a hoop encircling the rim of the bowl, and are tensioned by narrow strips of rattan. These are threaded around the hoop and are laced around the body and overlapping section of two dovetailed tuning wedges that are positioned at the base of the shell.
