Clarinet; klarnet
Klarnet, clarinet in G. Simple system, with no patent C sharp key. Chromium plated iron or steel body in two joints with cork lapped tenon at top of lower joint. Barrel and bell integral to the upper and lower joints respectively. All tone holes have chimneys, most fingerholes have rims. Keys of plated metal mounted on pillars, which are silver-soldered directly to the body without base plates. Thumb-rest cast, apparently plated with body after soldering. Keys for right hand ring finger rollered. Spring of bascule on head rather than lever. Upper socket is wider than body so as to accommodate large mouthpiece, which is of cocuswood. With reed, ligature and plated metal reed cap. Bell spun separately but now fixed to body. No inscriptions.
