Kettledrum
Toy mechanical drum. A kettledrum with a shallow pottery shell has a glued one white paper membrane decorated with a flower pattern in pink. The drum is mounted on a triangular section of a bamboo frame. An axle set into the rectangular section of the frame bears two pottery wheels. Two rectangular slips of bamboo are mounted on the axle between the two wheels. When the toy is pulled along by a thread the slips of wood rotate and engage with two "beaters", bamboo spills suspended above the drum-head by a length of twisted string, which strike it in rapid succession.
