Bronze Drum with Flying Flag Pattern

The body of the drum is short and squat and has 4 casting marks. The top surface is slightly smaller than the upper section of the drum. The top surface is about 1cm wider than the neck of the drum. The upper section is decorated with 2 pairs of flat ears. Eleven single-lined rings of decreasing size are cast on the top surface of the drum, one inside the other. At the centre, there is a sun with twelve rays and simplified peacock feather “eye” patterns. The sun rays are thin and long with the tips of the rays extending over the third ring. In addition, there are “?”-shaped patterns, stylised bird head patterns, studs, flying flag patterns (the main patterns), cloud patterns, rectangular spiral decorations, diamond-shaped patterns, and so on. The body of the drum is decorated with 8 patterned bands that include studs, diamond-shaped patterns, rectangular spiral decorations, multi-line angular shape patterns and so on.
