Qianlong 2nd Year Zhong (Bronze bo bell)

The suspension loop (niu) is broken and missing. Made of bronze, with an iron black colour on the surface. The shape and structure are crude and unrefined. The cross-section of the body of the bell is round. The upper surface (wu) and the bottom rim (yu) are flat. The framing lines dividing the studs, the areas (zhuan) between the studs, the central panel (zheng) and the gu are all cast in low relief. There are 36 conical studs on the surface of the body. The section with studs is wide and large, whereas the central panel (zheng) is small and narrow.
